Nobody Watched It — What Do You Fix First?
Short answer
Fix in order, not all at once. Start with the cover and the first second, then whether the first three seconds make one thing clear, and only then the content itself. Change one thing per post, or you will never know which change made the difference.
Who this is for
For shops that have posted ten or more times without movement, and owners unsure whether to blame the content or the timing.
Steps
- Layer one, the cover: can someone tell what this is at a glance? If not, change the cover and nothing else.
- Layer two, the first three seconds: is something actually happening? If not, replace the opening with an action — do not add text.
- Layer three, count the ideas: more than one means split it into two clips.
- Layer four, only now change the topic or the angle.
- Change one layer at a time, post, and wait for three posts before judging.
Example output
Re-posting the same clip with a new cover and re-shooting a new topic are two different tasks. The first costs ten minutes, the second half a day. Do the ten-minute one first; if the cover was the problem, you saved half a day.
A checklist you can run on your last three posts
Open your last three posts and answer these for each one. Stop at the first "no".
- **Cover:** with the sound off, can a stranger tell what this is in one glance?
- **First second:** is something moving or happening, not a logo or a title card?
- **First three seconds:** has it said or shown the one thing this post is about?
- **One idea:** is it about one dish, one service or one offer, not three?
- **Where and when:** does it say where you are or when you open?
The first "no" is your layer. Fix that one thing on the next post, and leave the rest alone.
Two quick examples
- **A bakery:** the cover was the shop sign. Changed to the bread being cut open, same clip otherwise. That is a layer-one fix.
- **A nail studio:** the first three seconds were a slow pan across the room. Changed to the finished nails first, then the process. That is a layer-two fix.
Neither needed a new shoot.

FAQ
Maybe I'm posting at the wrong time?
Timing usually moves less than the cover and the first three seconds. Rule those out first.
Should I change several things at once?
No. Change three things and you cannot tell which one helped, so next time you are guessing again.
How many posts before I can judge?
At least three with the same change. One post varies more than the change does.
If nothing moves, should I change direction?
First confirm you have gone through the first three layers. Most stalls are at layer one, not the topic.
